“Bumble Bee Inks”. These three words were hastily scrawled on a scrap of paper seven years ago. It was just a random idea for a business name then. Now it is a true statement of creativity. “Bumble Bee” was inspired by my own name, Deborah, which means bumblebee in German. The term “inks” came from the variety of drawing and illustrative projects I’d been working on at that time. It may not be a very deep premise for a name, but for sentimental reasons (and perhaps a few superstitious ones) I kept it. I believe in the power of a written word. The bumblebee is not remotely aware of the aeronautical problems its heavy body and small wings pose. It possesses a less than perfect body design for flight, yet it flies throughout my gardens all the same. It just goes about its business using its own unique method to navigate its course. Though my art career has not been perfectly mapped out and has certainly followed an unorthodox plan, I continue on. Using my own unique style and method, I’m willing to navigate my own path. I’ll enjoy this unpredictable journey wherever it takes me. |
